The Jewish Federation and Jewish Family Service are assisting those who have been negatively impacted by the current economic downturn. At this time, Federation has created a fund for emergency relief, which will be administered by JFS.
The Gesher/Bridge Fund is designed to assist members of the Jewish Community who are experiencing financial distress due to changes in economic circumstances with food, shelter (includes rent, mortgage assistance, or transition to suitable housing) utilities, or other emergency needs. This program is an expanded application of the current JFS Financial Assistance program. Excluded expenses remain; medical bills, legal bills, credit card debt, car repairs, and other non-emergency needs. Applicants will be asked to meet with a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, provide necessary documentation, and participate in a plan which will lead to self sufficiency. All assistance (except food assistance) will be directed to the creditor.
Interested applicants should call Jewish Family Service at 356-4234.
Jewish Family Service is a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation Annual Campaign. In times of crisis, the Jewish Federation and its beneficiary agencies work together to service Jewish needs. The Gesher/ Bridge Fund is a result of the matching grant to the 2009 Jewish Federation Annual Campaign.
